Fosters 42-42, a chemical based antimicrobial, in real world tests and long term studies reported results less than were desired. A chemical microbial is considered excellent for quick performance, but it is also susceptible to loosing efficacy either over time or in the presence of sunlight or water. As a result, the effectiveness will be degraded over time as water and/or sunlight come in contact with the treated materials.
